THE CONTESTS
THE CONTEST BEGINS ONCE OUR SEMI-FINALISTS ARRIVE AT NATIONALS. THEY SPEND THEIR FIRST DAY IN REHEARSALS LEARNING AND PERFECTING THEIR FABULOUS PRODUCTION PRESENTATION.

ON THEIR SECOND DAY, THE JUDGES CONDUCT AN INTERVIEW SESSION AND DANCE SEGMENT THAT ACCOUNTS FOR 10% AND 30% RESPECTIVELY, OF THEIR TOTAL SCORE.

THE REMAINING 60% COMES FROM THE DANCERS SOLO PERFORMANCE SCORE IN THE NATIONAL FINALS TO COMPLETE ALL REQUIREMENTS.

THE TITLE HOLDERS AND RUNNER UP POSITIONS ARE ANNOUNCED IN THE FINAL DAY OF THE NATIONAL FINALS.

REQUIREMENTS & AWARD INFORMATION
PETITE DANCER OF THE YEAR:
Soloists who will be seven years old by July 2, 2008 and all others up to the age of ten (as of the first day of preliminary competition in which they are competing) who score a minimum of 255 points on their solo performance at a DANCEAMERICA preliminary, will qualify as a Petite Dancer Of The Year Semi-Finalist.
  Each Petite Dancer of the Year titleholder will receive a $500.00 cash scholarship and a DOTY commemorative jacket. Runners up will receive a dance scholarship to be determined.
JUNIOR DANCER OF THE YEAR:
The top five female and the top five male soloists whose ages are eleven to fourteen years old as of the first day of the preliminary competition in which they are competing, who achieve a minimum score of 255 points or greater on their solo performance at a DANCEAMERICA preliminary, will qualify as a Junior Dancer Of The Year Semi-Finalist. All other soloists, male and female, scoring 260 points or above on their solo performance will also qualify. **NEW AGE REQUIREMENT**
  Each Junior Dancer of the Year title holder will receive a $750.00 cash scholarship and a DOTY commemorative jacket. Runners up will receive a dance scholarship to be determined.
DANCER OF THE YEAR
The top five female soloists and the top five male soloists who will be fifteen years of age and older by July 2, 2008, who achieved a minimum score of 255 points or greater on their solo performance at a DANCEAMERICA preliminary, will qualify as a Dancer Of The Year Semi-Finalist. All other soloists, male and female, achieving 265 points or greater on their solo performance will also qualify.
  Each Dancer of the Year titleholder will receive a $1000.00 cash scholarship and a DOTY commemorative jacket. Runners up will receive a dance scholarship to be determined.
