At every DANCEAMERICA preliminary,
studios are invited to submit entries choreographed by a full time
student (15 years of age or older) in this very special category. Routines
competing for this award will perform in their regularly scheduled
category but will be judged twice: once for placement and once for
choreography.
Judges are made aware that a
particular routine will be perform in the Young Choreographer category
and on a special judgeâs
sheet, they will record the choreography score along with the other routines
entered in the Young Choreography category for that city. Scoring is
based on the following six criterion: Vision, Costuming, Musicality,
Creativity, Staging and Emotion.
The routine receiving the Young
Choreographer Award will be invited to perform at the 2010 DANCEAMERICA
National Finals along with other Young Choreographer Award recipients
from all other preliminary cities. The highest scoring of these contenders
will receive the prestigious 2010 National Young Choreographer Award.
(Please see Rules & Regulations
for complete entry requirements, in the AWARDS section of our RULES Page.)
DANCEAMERICA welcomes all young choreographers to showcase
their own innovative choreographic concepts at our preliminary events!
